Privacy and Data

Overview: The first four paragraphs are about my site and how I collect, use and store your data. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] The sixth paragraph is about servers and what they do in regards to Brains on Wheels. [6] The seventh paragraph is about information transfer and storage. [7] The eighth and ninth paragraph is about the plug-ins that are included in my website. [8, 9] The tenth paragraph is a disclaimer about how Wix collects your browser cookies and data. [10]

1. If you sign up to become part of my mailing list, you agree to let me store your name and email address. The information you provide (name, which is optional, and email address, which is mandatory/required) is safe and will never be passed on to someone else. I will use this information to send you updates about what I am doing. These updates will either be a new blog post (there will only be the first part of the blog post, and then a link to the full post), or a shoutout (emails that are written by me to engage and inform readers, but not on my blog). This information will be sent to each of my subscribers separately, meaning that no one else will know your information apart from me. I will always safeguard your information.

2. If you decide to remove your email address from my mailing list, you will no longer receive emails from me when I write something new (either a blog post or a shoutout, which are emails that are written by me to engage readers, but not on my blog itself), but I will still have your information in my database because Wix saves the information that you enter when you subscribe to my mailing list. If you unsubscribe, your information will be moved to an 'Unsubscribed' section, and your information will stay there inactive until I remove it. If you would like me to remove your information from my database, please send me a message, either by email, or on Social Media, and I will do so immediately.

3. If you contact me via email (directly or through my contact forms), your name, email address and message will be stored in my email inbox. This will only be seen by me. If my email account becomes full up, I will delete the oldest emails I have to save space.

4. If you apply to write a guest post on my blog, the information that you enter into my Guest Post Form will be sent to me via email. If I accept your application, I will ask you to send your blog post to me via email. When you have done this, I will ask you to confirm that you want your blog post to be published on Brains on Wheels. Then I will give you a date when your blog post will be published. Your blog post will be shared on Social Media; such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram. If you decide that you no longer wish to contribute to Brains on Wheels and want me to remove your information from my database, please send me a message with your email address asking me to remove it. If I previously published a guest blog post by you and you no longer want it published on Brains on Wheels, you can contact me to ask me to delete it. If you do this, I will delete your blog post and all Social Media posts that are associated with it. Deleting Social Media posts cannot be undone. If you send a guest post via email, your post (and images, if applicable) will be saved as a file to my computer hard drive in a folder, and a back-up of your post files will be saved to an external hard drive or device in case something goes wrong with the original files on my computer.

5. If you post a comment on my blog or posts, you agree to let me store your name (required) and email address (optional). The information you provide (name and email address) is safe and will never be passed on to someone else. If you enter an email address when you post a comment on Brains on Wheels, your information will automatically be saved by your device or your browser for the next time you post a comment. Your comments are public, meaning that anyone can see them. If I feel that your comment is inappropriate, I will remove it without warning. If you decide that you no longer want your comment to appear on Brains on Wheels, you can send me a message via email, Facebook or Twitter asking me to remove it. If you request removal of your comment, I will ask you to confirm which one by asking for your name that you used to display on the comment. I will then ask you to confirm the content of the comment that you want removing and the page it is on. Once you have confirmed all this, I will remove your comment.

6. When you visit Brains on Wheels, servers automatically record information that your browser sends. This data may include information such as your device's IP address, browser type and version, operating system type and version, language preferences or the webpage you were visiting before you came to Brains on Wheels, pages of the site that you visit, the time spent on those pages, information you search for on my website access times and dates, and other statistics. You are entitled to learn about the legal basis of information transfers to a country outside the European Union or to any international organisation governed by public international law or set up by two or more countries, such as the UN, and about the security measures that I take to safeguard your information.

Plug-Ins (Like & Share buttons)

8. My website includes plug-ins for social networks, such as Facebook, Facebook Inc. The Facebook plug-ins can be recognised by the Facebook logo or the Facebook 'like' button.

9. When you share content directly from my site to Facebook, a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server is established via the plug-in. This enables Facebook to receive information that you have visited my site from your IP address. If you click on the Facebook "share" button whilst you are logged into your Facebook account (or if you log into Facebook), you can link the content of my site to your Facebook profile. This allows Brains on Wheels to associate visits to my site with your user account.
