Exam Board Discrimination
Hi everyone, today I had an appointment with Cross College Support to discuss my exam arrangements (reader, scribe, extra time, ect.) and the exam board (not the college) have said that I am not allowed a scribe for the writing half of the GCSE English exam.
This is partly why I didn't want to do the Functional Skills English exam... Yes, I can type with my feet, and yes, I can use an eye gaze computer, but if I was to sit the exam using a computer with my eyes or feet, I would be extremely tense, which would impact on my ability to type on both computers. Then I would be even more stressed because I wouldn't be able to write my ideas down due to my muscles getting tired or contracting all the time, and then I would be in a huge amount of pain. I would tire myself out, and it would end in tears! I know this for certain.
This is far from fair! This is discrimination! Exam boards are bloody ridiculous! What ever happened to "equal opportunities"? It's because of this that I'm stressed today, and it's not right at all! All I can say to the examination board is that they are being ridiculous! Five years ago, there was no problem whatsoever with having a scribe, so what's the issue now? If I have to be recorded, then so be it, but I need (not want) a scribe!
By the way, no, I'm not going to let this one go! May I suggest that the examination boards stop being complete and utter morons and make exams accessible to all?
Luckily, I have lots of people at college supporting me, so I would like to thank them for that.
Bye, see you soon.
